A little info about us at Cherry Blossom Gypsies.

I have always loved horses, and have been riding since I was 5 yrs. old. Have been training horses to ride and drive since 1980. I want to share my passion for horses with others. At Cherry Blossom Gypsies Pony Camp, I am able to do that.

A little info about the Gypsy Horse. Also known as the Gypsy Cob, Irish Cob, Irish Tinker and here in the US they are called Gypsy Vanner. The breed was created by the Irish Travelers, (Gypsies) about 100 yrs ago. Bred for strength, endurance, and especially good temperament. Using the Shires and Clydesdales for strength and structure, the Friesian for refinement, and the Fell and Dales ponies for hardiness and to bring the size down. For this reason the Gypsy horse is perfect for children.

Here at CBG Pony Camp, campers ages 8 to 80, experience what it’s really like to have a horse of their own. Teach skills in horsemanship, tack care and stall management. Campers learn a realistic view of horse ownership, with emphasis on safety, horse health, care and grooming. Here at CBG Pony Camp, we strive to create a fun, entertaining and educational (that’s edutainment) experience that also teaches responsibility, sportsmanship, cooperation and self confidence.

For the seriously "horse crazy", we highly recommend two or more sessions. The first week of camp is very active in their learning stages of new things. The subsequent weeks will build on what they learned in the prior week.
